Do Something Great For Your Heart!

February is American Heart Month, and we’re all about doing great things for our hearts here at Ávila. In addition to informing ourselves with the fantastic research from the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute, we’re taking note of some of the best ways we can align ourselves with their “Ways to Get Involved.”

The National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute recommends that we ban together when it comes to our hearts with the following measures:

Be physically active together
For us at Ávila, this means enjoying one of our many group fitness classes, and swimming together in our indoor pool! When the weather permits, we also love taking walks through our community gardens and playing a variety of lawn games with each other.

Eat healthier together
We are lucky to enjoy seasonal and healthy meals prepared by the incredible chefs at Mazzone Hospitality. It’s an easy way to make great choices when it comes to what we eat!

Manage stress together
Retirement is a great time to minimize the stress in your life. This can mean downsizing, reducing your responsibilities (home maintenance, yard maintenance, grocery shopping, etc), and surrounding yourself with a wonderful community of people. Our residents enjoy all of these perks, and more!
